I am a writer, editor, and designer currently based between Milan and Los Angeles. I’m the founder of Interiors Agency, a visual design studio that researches the production of the interior at a range of scales, from the personal to the planetary. Alongside Joanna Joseph, I also run Adjustments Agency, a collaborative research practice that investigates the “architecture of architecture,” or the effects of changing relations of production on the profession and discipline, both past and present.

Los usos de la decoración

A collection of four essays and visual materials that consider the political economy of non-professional home decorating. Written and designed by Nicholas Korody, translated into Spanish by Almudena Romay Cousido, and published in Madrid by Rua Ediciones. Afterworld: Balenciaga F/W 2021

Commissioned by the Berlin-based design studio Sub to produce scene-setting materials for the Afterworld, a video game set in the year 2031 produced by Balenciaga to showcase the Fall 2021 collection. Researched, conceptualized and realized the assets for a series of speculative ad campaigns that populate the virtual environment and establish the projected future, as well as an array of posters, flyers, and other materials representing countercultural movements and grassroots political groups that could emerge in the next decade.

EYES OF THE NATION

Named after a common Israeli epithet for the occupied Golan Heights (al-Jawlān) due to its strategic location on a plateau, “The Eyes of the Nation” is a video essay that examines a set of government-released photographs depicting various Israeli officials looking through binoculars across the border into Syrian territory. Alongside satellites, drones, and soldiers, the images are technologies of visuality that operate alongside a host of strategies for limiting the sight of others, from blurred-out satellite images to blindfolds and bullets. The video essay proceeds to consider how these images circulate within Israeli civilian culture, helping to secure a national identity built around seeing and making visible that is expressed, for instance, in the phenomenon of “war tourism,” in which domestic tourists travel to the region in order to get a glimpse of the conflict in Syria. Groundbreaking

An essay by Adjustments Agency published in Real Review #10 that features research into corporate groundbreaking ceremonies. Tracing their history back to the occult practices that accompanied building construction in pre- and early modern Europe, particularly involving the sacrifice of humans and animals, the project attempts to locate echoes of their transactional logics within the risk management techniques and sustainability measures of contemporary architecture. An Exhaustive But Incomplete History of the Webcam

An annotated timeline of major milestones in the development of webcams, streaming platforms, and the economies they generate, published in the second issue of Hightech Magazine, a print publication by High Snobiety. Available for purchase here, or to read online here.

The Right to Refuge

A video lecture produced for From Here; For Now, a digital talk series hosted by the Melbourne School of Design. The talk explores the racialization of the home as a legally-protected “refuge” US American jurisprudence and policing, focusing in particular on the semantic coding of decor through juxtaposing police training videos with the highly-publicized murder of Botham Jean by the Dallas police office Amber Guyger. On Loss

A performative lecture and installation by Adjustments Agency produced for the exhibition “The State of the Art of Architecture” at the Triennale Milano, curated by Joseph Grima. A video essay that investigates the libidinal economy of housework. Combining music videos, advertisements, porn, ASMR videos, YouTube tutorials, and archival footage, it probes the ways in which the production of desire works to both condition the laboring body and disguise the labor-character of work. A forty-page dossier in 032c #37 that offers survival strategies and coping mechanisms for life in THE NEW INTERIOR: the crisis-ridden planetary environment we inhabit today. Normal

The third issue of Ed, a print magazine published by Archinect, featuring a diverse range of contributions by significant architectural thinkers and practitioners that tackle questions surrounding the norms of the discipline and its normative functions. The issue aims to denormalize and denaturalize what we take for givens in the discipline and profession: primarily, its institutionalized social and labor relations, and their misogynistic, racist, corrupt, and oppressive character. At the same time, it looks at the ways in which architecture presumes–and, in turn, produces–a normative subject with a normative body.
